At first I almost put this book down and was going to forget it because it is so sad at the beginning. I'm glad I didn't. I ended up really enjoying it and it was definitely a diversion from the murder/mysteries I usually read.

This book by David Baldacci was quite a departure from others I have read by him. This story was truly what I would call a tear-jerker and I loved it. There is love, tragedy, sorrow, defeat, and hopelessness but in the end there is love again and a family moves on. It was very enjoyable to read.

Another amazing book by David Baldacci! Not his normal venue, or mine for that matter. As much as I would never admit it myself, you might find yourself tearing up more than once during this story. But one of the best reads for me this year regardless.

LOVED IT! If they made a movie from this book, please let me know, I could just picture every character as I was reading. I was literately on the edge of my seat with my mouth hanging open at how it all ended.
I loved this book it is sad and romantic. Many emotions all in one book.
really good book and an easy read...is about working on relationships after tragedies occur...a few twists keep you interested through the end of the book...ending predictable...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of David Baldacci and this one is a totally different kind of book for him to have written. It was more in the line of Nicholas Sparks, another great writer. I hope David Baldacci will write more books like this one. It is a sensitive, family story that will have you from the beginning to the end.
May I respectfully suggest that David B. stick with writing thrillers. It is hard to imagine that the talented Mr. Baldacci wrote this amateurish work, containing almost every cliche known to the reading public. I slogged my way through 70 pages before losing all hope that there was any improvement in store. My advice: don't waste your time (or book credit).
I don't read Baldacci's usual genre so I can't compare it to any of those books. It's not on the same level as Wish You Well. Not a bad read but a little too Nicholas Spark's like for me.
This book is so unlike other Baldacci books. It is a very moving story about love and life and death. Keep the tissues handy!
This story is a departure from the "usual" David Baldacci suspense thriller, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. In true Baldacci form, the story builds from page one, drawing you in effortlessly. The character development is so good you feel like you know these people very well. Very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book. I've also read The Christmas Train by this author. I enjoyed the character's in the book. Especially Mikki. It had a twist of events in the story which made it a page turner for me. Look forward to reading more of his books.
A story of hope with all the surprises, twists and turns I love in a David Baldacci novel.
Excellent fast moving book. Makes you appreciate everyday after reading how quickly we can pass away.
While David Baldacci may be best known for his style of legal thrillers, his tale-telling talent does not stop (or start) there. Baldacci captivated readers with "Wish You Well" and "The Winner" long before he expanded into the political waters of "The Camel Club" or "Last Man Standing". Unlike many authors, Baldacci does not have to stick with a specific genre of fiction.
If you expect the CIA or FBI in every novel you read, this book is probably not for you. But I admire and appreciate Baldacci's unique ability to keep readers immersed in any plot (political or NOT) that he creates! And this book is, yet another, fine example of just that!
***** 5 STARS ***** Another poignant page-turner by this brilliant author! A compelling story about family, love, hope, miracles, and transformation.
Once I started reading this book, I could NOT put it down; I read the entire book in one sitting!

I cried at the beginning and began laughing in the middle and loved the ending. Baldacci makes one feel like you lived next door to these people!
Thought I was getting a David Baldacci book. Got a Nicholas Sparks book instead. Should have known from the title.
Just when I get addicted to Mr. Baldacci's mysteries, he comes along with a powerful story of family love and loss. This book of his joined other books of his in my "books I hate"I hate" - hate to put down, hate to go to bed knowing I can't possibly finish it!
A fast summer read, easily accomplished in a few hours. It's a tearjerker requiring the reader to suspend disbelief and settle down to enjoy the family dynamics. Similar in nature to some of Nicholas Sparks' books, this novel is not unpleasant to read; however, Baldacci has done better.
This was the first book I have read by Baldacci so I wasnt disappointed like many readers since this book was obviously a change from his usual thriller mystery. It started out rather depressing and I almost set it down because I was looking for a summer read, but it quickly pulled me in, and I enjoyed the sentimental story.
