Here is the trick to enjoying JoAnn Ross's books: don't read them closely together. If you read her books one after another, you will notice that she recycles characters (same character, different names) and plotlines. If you put a good six months in between her books, you might have a vague notion that you have read it somewhere before and perhaps you wouldnt be so insulted that Ross believes her readers have dementia.
So if you can move pass the feeling that Ross has run out of ideas for her books, One Summer was actually a pretty good read. I really liked Charity and I even came to like her mother even though she was an idiot. Charity was pretty much perfect. She never does anything wrong so it was hard not to like her. Gabe used a lot of cheesy lines which were completely out of character and things wrapped up too easily at the end with the kids, but overall I had a good time reading it.
Definitely not a book you have to read but it wouldnt kill you if you have a few hours to spare.

This 2nd book of the series was better than the first in my opinion. I really enjoyed the story of Charity and Gabe.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. I read it in a couple of days, it was hard to put down. Much better than the first book in the series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
