Nothing earth shattering or new, but I will always enjoy a smooth-flowing, well written romance. 4 stars from me! I look forward to reading her subsequent books in this series.

A young English woman proposes marriage to Lord Augustine, an American who has inherited a Duke's title and wealth, to avoid accepting another man's marriage proposal. Lady Cecily knows that her older sister loves Lord Drury and Cecily cannot avoid her father's insistence that she accept Drury's proposal unless she becomes quickly engaged to someone of higher rank and more wealth. Lord Augustine only has come to England to quickly settle his inheritance and marry off his three half sisters, but the tempting Lady Cecily may change his plans. A charming romance.

I enjoyed this story quite thoroughly. Good characters; decent plot; quick pace - all good characteristics. While in some ways it was typical Regency fare, I haven't come across another story about a Lord that is half American - and half Indian to boot. That was an interesting twist. Lord Augustine was a thoroughly likeable man... Cecily was a bit too young/innocent/independant (in that her brother and father weren't more involved)... It was good enough to make me want to read the sequel soon!

Well written. Enjoyable. Interesting characters and believable progression of romantic development between the h/h. I look forward to the next book in the series.
