Hilarious, suspenseful and fun all in one book! Loved it.

Daisy Minor is an engaging character and the story, while starting off a bit slow, perhaps, soon becomes very enticing.

This is a laugh-out-loud,tears-running-down-the face hysterical book that does not take anything away from the storyline with the humor. It's about a mousy, plain librarian that wakes up one day and decides it is time to change her life to everyone's amazement and glee. When she decides to change her life, she is in for much more than she originally bargained for: murder, drugs, smuggling, and love!

Enter: Daisy Minor, She's in her thirties. She's lived at home all her life. She has a good job, and a wonderful family, but she wants a husband to love and a life of her own. She gets a makeover, gets her own place, and starts husband hunting. As she's sitting in her car, in the parking lot of a night club, trying to get the courage to go in, she sees three men. It looks like one is drunk. It looks like after he passes out, the other two men help him into the back of a pick-up. Daisy doesn't have a clue that she's just witnessed a murder.
Enter Jack Russo. He's the chief of police. He gets a kick out of teasing Daisy before she makes her transformation. Jack suddenly has his hands full, first in trying to get Daisy to notice him, then trying to protect her from a killer. I loved this book! It was suspenseful, romantic, and funny. It's one of my all time favorite Linda Howard books.

I loved this book. It was funny and suspenseful. Daisy and Jack are great. Mr. Perfect was the first Linda Howard book I read. Because I liked it so much, I read Open Season, which has become my favorite Linda Howard book and the reason that to this day, Linda Howard is one of my must read authors. I must admit however, her most recent books have been disappointing to me, as they have been very dark. I keep reading each book she puts out hoping that she'll go back to books like this one.

Another of Linda's books with the humor, intrigue, mystery and romance all in one. You will fall in love with Daisy immediately and then know why Jack falls in love with her too! One of her very best!

This was the first book I've heard by this author and it was absolutely hilarious!! The people in cars around me were certainly jealous as I sat all by myself, in my vehicle, laughing hysterically with tears streaming down my face. Daisy is so identifiable that you can't help but fall in love with her and all of her crazy antics. I can not wait to listen to more books written by Linda Howard and hope that they are all just as funny.

Laugh out loud funny!!! And I mean literally. I have never read a book that made me unable to contain my laughter, like 'Open Season' did.
Unfortunately, while reading the amusing parts I was sitting on a plane next to an elderly gentleman that did not appreciate my uncontrollable giggles. Okay, maybe they weren't giggles, but more annoying "pee your pants" laughter.
I give it 5 smileys :o) :o) :o) :o) :o) on the laughter scale.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Kept my interest to the end. Usually takes me awhile to read a larger book (over 300 pages) compared to the usual (200 and under pages) but I finished this one in 3 days. Think you'll enjoy reading it.

One of the best heroines around, Daisy Minor. What happens when she decides it's time to change her life?

This is a light read, moves quickly, and the heroine is delightful. There were passages that had me laughing out loud. Only Linda Howard does it like this!

An outstanding read. I could not put it down.

As an avid reader of all of Linda Howard\'s books, this rates up there with the best of them. The characters of Daisy and Jack\'s chemistry if great. A very good read.

I love anything Linda Howard writes even if the back cover doesn't sound like something I would normally read. She's one of the few authors that I will buy in hardback and she's on my keeper bookshelf for life.

Daisy Minor needs a change. She's 34 years old, lonely, and wants to get married and have a family. So, she decides on a make-over....new clothes, new hair, new home, new life. She wants to become a "party girl" who has lots of dates and lots of fun. But, during a night on the town, she witnesses a murder. Now her life may be in danger and the only man standing between her and death is Jack Russo, the local police chief.
This story is light romantic suspense with a few laugh-out-loud moments. We learn who the villains are early in the story, so there really isn't any suspense. Daisy and Jack have great chemistry and are a fantastic couple. I couldn't get enough of their story. But I thought the best part of this book was how funny it was. There are a few laugh-out-loud moments, especially during the "party pack" scene. I highly recommend this book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

really enjoyed this book
This is the first Linda Howard book that I read. I was drawn in by how easy this book was to read and how realistic the characters were. I would highly recommend this book to others.
One of my favorite books to read!! Good story line with just enough suspense to keep the pages turning. I was a little confused with one character at the end, but maybe Howard will follow up on him sometime in the future?
Awesome book - one of my favorites by Linda Howard - I read until the end - hard to put down! Full of fun, suspense and romance.
Few authors tie a little X-rated romance together with a tricky mystery plot as well as Linda Howard. This one loops back and forth, leaving the law with wa-a-a-y too many suspects after the murder of a light-loving lady.
From back cover: Be careful what you wish for....
On her thirty-fourth birthday, Daisy Minor decides to make over her entire life. The small-town librarian has had it with her boring clothes, her ordinary looks, and nearly a decade without so much as a date. It's time to get a life--and a sex life. The perennial good girl, Daisy transforms herself into a party girl extraordinaire--dancing the night away at clubs, laughing and flirting with abandon--and she's declared open season for manhunting.
But her free-spirited fun turns to shattering danger when she witnesses something she shouldn't--and becomes the target of a killer. Now, before she can meet the one man who can share her life, first she may need him to save it.
Seamlessly blending heart-pounding romance and breathless intrigue, Linda Howard delivers a stylish and provocative novel that absolutely defies readers to put it down.

I loved this book. It moved quickly and Daisy is a different kind of heroine and Jack Russo was 'gobsmacked'. One of the funniest suspense novels I've ever read. On the order of Rachel Gibson, and parts were laugh-out-loud side splitting.
Daisy Minor is a small town librarian who, at 34 is the typical 'old-maid' who decides to change her image, as she wants a husband and children. She thinks that the way to find one is going to the bars, unfortunately Chief of Police Jack Russo gets in her way and the story just flows from there.

On her thirty-fourth birthday, small-town librarian Daisy Minor resolves to enliven her boring life by finding a man with whom she'll have a steamy fling. Makeover done, she dances the night away and later finds a place of her own on the seamy side of town. Then one night she sees something that puts her in danger, and she finds herself having to deal with the infuriating local police chief--single, attractive . . . and sexy. Although the premise is a little shopworn and the "makeover changes all" plot point a trifle unbelievable, Linda Howard gives Daisy a lot of spirit and the police chief a lot of spice--and the result is good chemistry that makes for an enjoyable romantic thriller.

Daisy Minor is a small time librarian until she wakes up on her 34th birthday and wonders if she'll always be living with her widowed mom and spinster aunt.
On her way home one night she sees something she was not supposed to see. Suddenly she's a target of a killer.

I like her books, but it is kind of a simple read.
I love this book. Mine is on my keeper shelf but give this book a try. My daughter(age 30) and I(age 58) laughed outloud many times while reading Open Season. Great romance and mystery!
Awesome read!
Steamy romance at it's best plus a murder mystery.
Another very good Linda Howard book, very hard to put down.
OMG! This book was so not what I expected and such a great read!!! My favorite line had to be about having the affair while you wait for the relationship.....It was great - I love to watch an unexpected and unaccepted relationship form, bubble and blossom before me on the pages. A great romance, a great back story, and most of all a great story. 5 stars and worth the time! Enjoy!

As always Linda Howard is fantastic!!
An entertaining read with moments of hilarity that made me guffaw and that add to the whimsy of this little mystery. I love Howard's more serious books, but found this one well written and surprising in its irreverence! This is not a serious mystery, but it is certainly a delight! If you wish to lighten your day, I recommend you spend time listening.

I just love this book. Linda Howard is an all time favorite of mine
this is not one I have read or listened too
Ms. Howard has a knack for making me like her characters. In this case, the small town librarian wants to change her life to become more beautiful and otherwise step out of her shell. Others see her as a great target for their plans. The games are on.
Never been used! Brand new!

For Daisy Minor, it's open season on men. The small-town librarian is tired of being a good girl, living with her widowed mother and spinster aunt. She wants to experience life and love, to have some fun, to meet a man. Before she starts her personal manhunt, she sets out to reinvent, or at least redecorate, herself. She seeks out a new look to match her new attitude, moves into her own place, and sets out in search of all the fun and adventure she's been missing. Soon she's dancing her nights away, flirting with men, and thoroughly enjoying her new free-spirited lifestyle. Then, late one night, she sees something that no one was supposed to see and finds herself in deadly danger. Suddenly, a killer declares it Open Season on Daisy Minor, and Daisy's one hope, for life and love, is to find the perfect man to save her life -- and share it.
