Having read SCHINDLER'S LIST years ago, I wanted to read the story behind the book (and movie). This description did not disappoint. Schindler started his life amassing wealth, chasing women, and living large. However, sometime during the Nazi rise, he realized what was really going on and interceded. He tipped off the Jews when he heard of imminent danger and protected as many as he could.

The irony of this man's gift of life to others was that, after the war, he had to live simply because he'd spent most of his money protecting the Jews and was no longer rich. The Jews came forward and helped him to live (with grants and monetary gifts) until his death. This is an inspiring story of a man with many faults who rose above them to save others.
