Written for the "lay person" but I am a health care professional and have found this book to be so valuable. Explains differing types of sensory dysfunction and activities that families can perform to assist in regulating the sensory system. Handy for any family with a child diagnosed with ADD/ADHD or as having a sensory dysfunction.

My son was an "itchy" child from the start. Couldn't stand normal things like hugging and cuddling for example. This book is the reason my pediatrician finally took me serious! I was gifted the book and when I read it, I found my childs diagnosis!
I gave it to my pediatrician and when she read it, she agreed. After therapy, he was a much easier child to deal with.I would recommend this book to anyone who has an "Itchy" child.
I keep a copy by my bed.

I consider this a bible of sorts in raising a child with Sensory Integration Dysfunction...the kid who has to have the tags cut out of everything, everything must fit and feel just right.

The definitve book for those parents who have a baby that creis all the time, for the grandparents who notice that their grandchild has a short fuse and no friends. This book explains sensory diets and how they affect the delicate make up of a child.
Does your child roll along walls, love to be inside blankets, tents, forts or wrapped tightly? This child is described in the book as being sensory defensive. What parents, teachers and family can do to help a child who is "out of snyc" is explored with wit and compassion.
