An interesting true story of a group of 3 teen boys' soccer teams made up of refugees from war-torn countries ( hence named the 'Fugees') who had been resettled to Clarkson just outside of Atlanta. The female coach of all 3 teams, herself an immigrant from Jordan who rejected her family's harsh expectations for Arab women, found her calling in guiding these 3 teams to success.
Coach practices 'tough love' with mandated tutoring sessions before each practice to help their ESL skills, demanding punctuality, mutual respect, and responsibility. How she brought together boys from a variety of cultures and dozens of countries of Muslim, Christian, and tribal African backgrounds is truly a miracle.
