Standard Andy Carpenter story, but a good page turner. The author always seems to think of new, interesting ways to tell his stories.
I enjoy all of D.Rosenfelt's books and this was no evception
The last Andy Carpenter novel I read was 'SILENT BITE' and I was really disappointed in it. But this book reinstates my faith in David Rosenfelt to write a winning book. The wise-cracks are never-ending and the cast of characters is without the other (new characters) of Rosenfelt's other two series. Hike (Andy's assistant attorney) is at his gloomy best and Edna does nothing, as usual.
This story starts with all the cards stacked against Brian Atkins. He's about to be released from prison for embezzlement (through assured early parole from a minimum-security prison) when he escapes with a dog (only David Rosenfelt could get a dog to help an ex-con escape from prison). The next time he's seen, he is walking out of the house that holds two stabbed bodies (Brian's wife and his business partner). How Andy inherits the case is better than usual (Andy wants to retire, life doesn't agree).
Andy has more than one close call with death because he is interrupting the slick work of cyber-criminals and mobsters. The whole story is interesting because Andy realizes that he must name the murderer/embezzlement folks in order to get his client off. I read most of the night because I couldn't put the novel down. Great story and great complications in the plot.

Missing some of the humor of his earlier books. Many players in this book keeping the identity till the end.

As usual, I loved this as I do all Andy Carpenter series books. His is humorous, laugh out load funny and adorable. He loves living the good life with the millions he inherited and only takes on law clients if it has something to do with with dogs.
There is always a good mystery to solve and Andy goes out of the way to get it done. Of course, my favorite character is Tara the dog, with Marcus a close second.

How can you not love Andy Carpenter? I will miss this series. Moving on to Rosenfelt's stand alones.
Another humorous but clever and endearing Andy Carpenter story!
