To put it simply, Outwitting History is Lansky's love letter to books, specifically Yiddish books. But it is more than that; it is his love letter to a culture and a language that, in its original form, is disappearing before his eyes.

Outwitting History is a truly amazing read. Aaron Lansky is such an amazing figure who saved a legitimate part of history. I recommend this book beyond belief. Its a great book, a quick read, and a fascinating story!

This is an important book to read, as the Jewish language is not being used much with the younger generation. I was raised with a Yiddish speaking grandmother and mother, so I learned to understand the spoken language, but have great difficulty speaking Yiddish. This book is inpirational and a must read for all interested in the Yiddish language.

This is the true story of a young man who wanted to save yiddish books that were being destroyed because Yiddish was falling out of favor as a language and as Yiddish book owners begin to age and need to downsize. Later many others all over the US joined in helping him. He was able to save thousands of books and his story reads like a novel with wit and good humor; and some sadness as the stories of the owners of the books are told. It is very interesting and interestingly told. I highly recommend it. Five stars

Now, if it was a million Danielle Steele books, then I would understand.
