HORACE GREGORY, poet and critic, is professor emeritus of Sarah Lawrence College, where he taught for twenty-six years. He is the author of a twentieth-century version of The Poems of Catullus. His Selected Poems (Viking) appeared in 1951 and his Collected Poems (Holt, Rinehart & Winston) was published in 1964. Mr. Gregory was awarded the Bollingen Prize in American Poetry for 1963-1964 for the latter volume. Among the other awards he has received for his poetry are the Helen Haire Levinson Prize from Poetry Magazine, the Russel Loines Award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and the Award from the American Academy of Poets for distinguished achievement in poetry. In 1951, Mr. Gregory was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
