Caldecott winer for illustrations--lovely picutre of being out in the woods in the winter snow.
This book is great!
The author writes with so much description that you
Can actually "hear" the snow in the book.
Brought me back to my cold winter days as a child.
Good one to break out with the kidos.

This is a wonderful picture book for children of all ages. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and set the mood from the very first page. Read is aloud to your favorite child(ren) and go on a nighttime adventure in the snowy woods. You won't be sorry, and will probably never forget the experience.
wonderful story of child/parent relationship
This was a very sweet book and was a gift to a special friend.
I love it. Hope my grandkids will, too.
My family fell in love with this one from an audio book we borrowed from the library. It's a great book about spending time with a child's father in that magical dark time of winter. Is a great read aloud for winter studies or father's day.
Great classic picture book! My kids loved it.
Great book!
In my experience, Owl Moon by Jane Yolen is the best children's book ever. It is a really sweet story of a young girl and her father taking a walk at night in the woods. The illustrator John Schoenherr uses acrylic wash to paint beautiful pictures of their walk. He has hidden in plain sight the wild creatures of the woods. I was caught by surprise more than once, finding an animal for the first time although I had read the book previously. My three year old grandson asks me to read Owl Moon and each time we have a wonderful time together.
A lovely illustrated book! It's written from the perspective of a boy who goes owling with his dad. Jane Yolen weaves free verse poetry into this book, making you feel like you're the one on this midnight outing with your dad! A great read!

A girl and her father go owling on a moonlit winter night near the farm where they live. Bundled tight in wool clothes, they trudge through snow "whiter than the milk in a cereal bowl"; here and there, hidden in ink-blue shadows, a fox, raccoon, field mouse and deer watch them pass. An air of expectancy builds as Pa imitates the Great Horned Owl's call once without answer, then again. From out of the darkness "an echo/ came threading its way/ through the trees." Schoenherr's watercolor washes depict a New England few readers see: the bold stare of a nocturnal owl, a bird's-eye view of a farmhouse. In harmony with the art, the melodious text brings to life an unusual countryside adventure.
