Topic: PO tracking says delivered, member doesn't respond

Over the years, I've lost count of the number of times I've had to send a PM to a member when USPS tracking has the book delivered over a week ago but they haven't acknowledged receipt, and sometimes I had to do it again a week later. Usually the member responds, but over the last year this has been a growing problem. I can understand if the member gets back to me and says he/she was sick, out of town, whatever, But what happens if the member doesn't even bother to the PM?   I'm getting ready to PM a member after a second week.

Is the member just trying to get a free book?  Isn't there something PBS can do?  If I remember corrercly, it used to be if this happened you notified PBS which checked it out and gave you the credit That doesn't seem to be the case anymore after I searched 0the library. But there needs to be a way to report this to PBS so they can monitor that member to see if this is a common practice.

Just PM using the contact us with all the info. I do believe they are still giving you credit if they confirm the book was received with no acknowledgement. I got one credit back last year for that very thing.

Thanks, I'll try that. It's been two weeks today that the book was delivered. So i'm sending my second PM tonight.

Send PBS the tracking number and they can see for themselves the book has been delivered.

With some exceptions, if PBS receives a "delivered" scan from the Post Office, the system will mark the book "received" instead of "lost", when the time comes.

I notice that I have to PM members more often to acknowlege that they received the book.  When I mail out books here, I PM the tracking number.  If I have to PM them, I will copy and paste the delivery information.

PBS takes a negative view of members who don't respond to PMs at all.

If you sent the book with other tracking (not PBS Printable Postage) you need to wait until the book is declared 'lost' by the system to ask us to check into it.

If your book is declared 'lost' by the system and the sender has not responded to your PM within 3 days, please contact us and let us know.

When mailing a book, I also PM the member with the tracking number, if only to let them know I can track it,

In this case, the member I sent the second PM to finally acknowledged receipt. But didn't comment on why it took over two weeks to do so,

There are so many fine people on ths site, But I'm careful too, as in my first week on PBS one member tried to scam me.
