Author: G. K. Chesterton
8 suspenseful tales featuring Chesterton’s delightful amateur sleuth, a deceptively "mild little man" who knows thoroughly the ways of the world. Mr. Pond is supposedly another of G.K.s amateur sleuths. The eight stories in this series are to me unmemorable. Mr. Pond is fond of making statements in which he seems to contradict himself, but in a logical way. Fortunately, he explains his points. But, as for his detective work, that is primarily guess work which, of course, is always right on the money. I much preferred the Father Brown stories and those in The Man Who Knew Too Much.
