This a great book for parents that are not familiar with kids in sports. If you are already into sports this may not be the book for you.
The authors talk about what to expect in the kids sports arena. It is an overview, not particular to any one sport. Ripken talks a lot about his family and his particular experiences with kids and sports. Things he talks about are sportsmanship, how to develop good relations with coaches, local teams versus traveling teams, age of kids and sports. The focus is on having fun with your kids, with sports included.
