I've never read a book with more names dropped than this one. I didn't recognize the majority of them, and I consider myself fairly well read. The author mentions obscure characters as if the name of the third Viscount of Leconte in 1943 is one we all know. If he'd cut out about 30 percent of the extraneous material, this would be a readable book but as it's written, too dense for me.
