i adored the author's previous book "room" but was disappointed with this one. the narration was lovely with all the french accents and the historical fiction angle at the end of the 19th century (including women's rights) was certainly interesting. but there were so many names and people to follow and i found myself bored and distracted.

SPOILER ALERT: while it appeared that the train was destined to be destroyed by a bomb, it actually had an accident speeding into the paris station. i liked the surprise of that aspect.
