At first, it was great finally recognizing myself for who I really am while reading this book. It felt great to see that I'm not alone feeling the way I do being an introvert. But, then it took a bitter turn. It feels to me like the author has some kind of inferiority complex and as a defense mechanism, she feels the need to be snarky and write this book as though introverts are somehow superior to extraverts. I don't need to feel superior to extraverts. A bit disappointing.

Great book. Written well. If your a "loner" you'll love it!

Great book for those who consider themselves loners or those who wish to learn a little insight on this topic.
I'd look forward to a sequel.

I really loved this book. If your a loner or introvert like myself it will ring true with you on so many levels. It covers alot of different topics, childhood, adventure, friendship, love, crime, religion, advertising, and more, and the way we and the world view these subjects. It is well written, intelligent and often laugh out loud funny. It can be a dry read at times with alot of history thrown in but all in all very informative and enjoyable.
I agree with Kathie's review. After the first wave of philosophical/sociological revelation, it began to sound repetitive, and like she was going to war against non-loners, so I gave up after 30 pages (yes, I skimmed some of the rest of the book, and I couldn't see any dramatic change.
A brilliant, brilliant book.
She deconstructs so many unwarranted yet popular myths about people who like to be alone - and distinguishes those who wish they weren't alone and therefore aren't true loners from those who really like solitude. In addition, her writing is a great pleasure to read. I already want to read it again!
