This is my first book by Daniel Hurst and I really liked it. It is told mostly from the perspective of Amanda. She has been working to save up so she could quit her job and fulfill her dream of writing a book. Amanda is "the passenger". We also have the perspectives of her angst filled teenage daughter, Louise, and the perspectives of the two "bad guys" working together to attain the code to open Amanda's safe and steal the money she has worked so hard to save. However, as we learn of Amanda's background and how she came to be in this place in time we learn she has much more at stake if the safe is opened than just the loss of her money. It's a tense thriller but also a tale of the nuances of a mother/daughter relationship. Mostly, it is the story of a strong woman who is much more than she seems to be and the lengths she will go to to protect herself and her daughter. I look forward to reading more from this author.
