An alternate history/fantasy story, the first title in a unique series about a young warlock finding his powers just as war explodes around him. Young Proctor Brown is not just a fledgling witch - he's also a Minuteman fighting the Redcoats in the Revolutionary Boston. I wanted to like this, but despite the great concept I have to say I didn't enjoy reading this book and won't be looking for any others in the series. Proctor just isn't really all that likeable; the other characters around him are even less so.
