A more accurate name for this book would have been "America: Everyone Was Awful"! Still, though it was a hard read, it's important. A solid alternative to the shiny, happy "yes, bad things happened, but it all worked out for the best" version that you're fed in school, which completely discounts the lives and struggles of anyone who isn't a rich white Christian male. Important book!
