I really enjoyed this book. I've read 2 of Ann Aguirre's other series (liked Corine Solomon books, didn't care for Sirantha Jax books). I wondered how much I'd like reading about prisoners in a ship with a bleak future. But I loved this book.
I think it's because of the characters. Immediately, I fell for the heroine and her ragtag group! Aguirre's writing is great and she keeps the stories moving but it's the characters that keep you reading. This is why I had a hard time with the Sirantha Jax books...I just didn't like the heroine.
The story is compelling and full of action, I couldn't put it down. It does have some dark story lines but there's hope and people you can root for. Great read!
