An excellent book written about the First Special Service Force of World War II. If you have ever seen the 1968 movie "The Devil's Brigade," this book really shines, as it recounts the history of the unit and men for long after the time when the movie ends.
While the initial actions of this force, as somewhat depicted in the movie, brought it much attention, it was its performance afterwards, especially at Anzio, that really showed what the men of this force were capable of.
The book follows the history of many of the men after the force was disbanded and into the post war years.
