This book gets a 5 based on cover alone! Jesus Christmas that guy's hot. I want to remove his pants with my teeth. Ohhh yeah.

How do I rate this? I think the cover is tainting me because it is the hottest cover ever and because of it I want to say "I really liked it" but, the book wasn't as good. I have read every sports romance I can get my hands on and loved most of them, I would actually call myself a Sports Romance connoisseur. I love the sportsman type, basically man whores with incredible bodies that are easy going and fun loving, but eventually tamed. This book just didn't rank up in my top sport's romance reads. I definitely liked the book- did I mention the hot cover- and I will read the next in series but, the story just felt forced, predictable and too perfect. I like perfect, but not "too perfect".

I did feel a love connection between Mick and Tara and I thought it was cute how their roles were reversed where she just wanted the one night stand unlike him. The were tons of long sex scenes, but the sex seemed awkward, maybe the dialog was just too raw and explicit for the characters. Basically you have a sweet, single mom, event planner that is totally dedicated to her son and business and hasn't been in a relationship good or bad since she was 15 yet, she talked like a hard core porn star when they were intimate. Some of this sex talk was pretty good and was a turn on, but when their love and relationship developed it didn't fit and I cringed a little bit. Also Mick was unbelievably perfect; perfect body, job, family, loved her kid immediately, they gave him one flaw, but he took care of it "perfectly". I wanted him to be a little more rakish and cause a little more conflict. I would call it a paint by numbers romance, it had all the right parts; hot couple, lots of adventuresome sex, bits of glamour, minor conflicts- looks good in the end, but still slightly elementary.

This story could have been a lot better if it were shorter. I felt that things dragged on during the middle and I started getting bored. Mick was an absolute sweetie and I wanted to knock some sense into Tara. I don't understand how blind she was to Mick's feelings for her. Her constant doubt, stubbornness and need for independence was so frustrating. I also felt there were too many sex scenes and I ended up skimming the rest in the book. Not a bad read, but not great either.

The Perfect Play was a very enjoyable read, filled with romance, sex, more sex, more sex and more sex. I enjoyed the chemistry between single mother Tara and hot football player Mick Riley. Tara is an event planner struggling to raise her son all by herself while Mick is a famous athlete adored by millions and living a jet set, bachelor life. I thought this book was good but there are way too many sex scenes. It almost seemed forced, as if the author was trying to make it a sex-athon. Tara supposedly hadn't had a relationship (or much sex) in 15 years yet she is so sexually aggressive with Mick and way over the top in terms of her language. That was kind of annoying, although the good outweighs the bad. Mick seemed kind of perfect so I was happy that the writer had him harboring a secret. Tara was a bit insecure but overall they were a strong, hot couple.Good, solid read. Not for those who don't enjoy heavy sexual scenes...and I do mean heavy. Not your standard sex scenes. Erotica at times.

{2.5 stars}

I picked this one up based on other reviews, on the surface it sounds like a "HOT" read. But it was (for me) lukewarm, very vanilla. Maybe I read to much paranormal romance and true erotica, so I had a hard time keeping my attention on this one. I did finish it though, I kept hoping for something more dramatic to happen other than normal everyday drama. There was no exciting, life or death thrill ride events. I want to read a book that becomes a fantasy that I can escape into, or have more passion than I can find in a rated R movie (the cover was the hottest part of this book in my opinion). This just didn't do it for me.

My absolute FAVE cover of All Time!!!

Book was ok, sadly. I liked it enough to continue with the series, since I love Ms. Burton. But the alcoholism n child thing kinda make it a bummer at times. The 2nd was better tho :)

loved it from beginning to end. I know some probably don't like it. I'm a sports fan so to read something with a little bit of a sports theme was pretty neat. Even though it's not the main thing going in the book.

Besides who wouldn't love reading about Mick...he is definitely hot. I am sooo looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Jaci Burton definitely knows how to write a drool/swon worthy leading Hunk. I glad I purchased this series on a whim while looking on the B&N website. It definitely was worth it in my personal opinion.

I'll admit it- the cover grabbed me first, but overall I liked this book. There were a few places where the book got a bit "preachy" about alcoholism, and a few places where the heroine got on my nerves, but still a fairly good read. Loved the hero, and a great ending.

I waited a long time to get the paperback of this book. I was slightly disappointed but not by much. Really the story is nice but a little on the unbelievable side since I am that single mom and I was not immediately a sexual volcano after a serious dry spell. I liked the overall story but to me some things were over embellished and others not enough to keep up. I recommend the read but it is not a shelf keeper in my opinion. I do want to read the next book though. Seems the next couple will be more believable and volatile in the bedroom.

I really liked this book. I am looking forward to see the next book to come out. It will be about his brother and his ex-manager.
