Here is the guide on how to enjoy a Lynsay Sands's historical romance. First, know it's not going to change your life. Second, don't expect a great plot because they are all the same: attempted murder attempts on a newly wed couple to gain title and power. Third, laugh, laugh, laugh. This one is no different. Yes, the plot is predictable and the blossoming relationship between Avelyn and Paen is sweet, but I read it for the funny scenes.
I also loved that Avelyn is more of a full-figure woman. Paen is also so clueless it was endearing. I especially loved the part where he tries to increases Avelyn's self esteem by petting her rump and giving her an apple because that's what he does to make his horse feel better. Like I said clueless and sweet.
It's frivilous and thoroughly fun.

I loved this book! It was funny and I found myself laughing and embarrased for the poor girl through most of the book. Great light read when you need a chuckle or to just take a break.
I'm not a romance reader, but couldn't put this down. Avelyn is a plus size woman who is bethrod to Paen. She is worried because she is plus size he won't like her. Wrong!! Very funny, book.

Really great plot, if rather inaccurate historically. I mean, really... who in 11th century anywhere would expect a bath every day? Great plot device, but drove me slightly crazy. The hero is such a dear, too. Would like to see more of her brother and family in a future book.

A very funny book misconceptions, misadventures placed in historical time period, in Scotland. The female character self conscious about her weight and an arranged marriage where both meet only at the wedding. High Comedy

a story about love, passion and suspense....if you are looking for a feel good book with characterss you like & can believe in then this romance is for you. not the authors normal vampire stuff. no paranormal at all. just a caslel and shinning man hood.

Paen Gerville longed for a lively, well-rounded woman, one whose plump breast would cushion his head after the lonely, harsh life of a solitary fighting knight. At first his wife-to-be Avelyn, promised no such delights, her form was unbending, her health apparently fragile as she fainted into his arms after thier first kiss. But one split brida gown later, her assets were eye-poppingly apparent and Paen could only grin as he anticipated the suprises yet to come on his wedding night with.....The Perfect Wife.
A great read!

This is a very good book. It is about a lady that does not fit the typical Barbie profile that fulfills her arranged marriage. It is suspenceful and intertaining.

This was one of my first Lynsay Sands historicals. Or should I say hystericals! lol. I love Sands, both in her historical romances and especially the Argeneau Vampires. Read all of them, own all of them, love to re-read them. Awesome awesome author. Highly recommend.
This book is very cute and i love that the heroine is not some twiggy barbie. It's refreshing. Some of the situations that the heroine gets herself into remind me of some of the other characters in LS's historicals but they still keep a uniqueness to them. A very good book.
*Read LS's new highland series. Really good too!
**I recommend reading Bliss, and Reluctant Reformer as well. So good!!

I really liked this book Avelyn goes through alot trying to be what she thinks her new husband wants in a wife.Pean is not sure he has the wife that he wants. Hw wants a wife that is lively, strong, healthy. Avelyn appears to be fragile and have very little common sence.
I loved this book and it will be in my library forever. A sweet read and he's a great guy!
I loved this book. The writer's humor adds a special touch to the sweet story.
Except for the totally wrong cover and a modern feeling to the Medieval tale, this book displays Sands' sense of humor and gentle style perfectly.
Fantastic romance.
A great story. The hero loves the heroine even though she isn't rail-thin.
I really enjoyed this book.
nice read, would buy this author again.
The bk had some very humorous scenes, esp. in the beginning. The second 1/2 of the bk was not quite as good as the first, but a pleasant read over all.
A very enjoyable read, hard to put down.
This is the first book I read from Lynsay Sands, I basically read it in one night! I thought it was very good! I really liked it!!!
Good read, but not very exciting.
I liked this book, but not as much as others that Lynsay Sands has written. Though I laughed and enjoyed it, the characters didn't mesh right away for me. The main characters didn't pull me in and in some spots I wanted to kick him. There needed to be some more talking to clear up stupid misunderstandings more and in my book the 3 cousins issue was not resolved. Overall though I enjoyed reading it, it isn't my favorite book of Ms. Sands..
Cute, but this author's vampire books are a LOT better.
I really enjoyed this. It was the first of Sands' historical books that I've read but I think I like this more than I like her vamps. I'll definitely be reading more historicals by her.
