This book is inspiring. This young lady faced imprisonment-even death-and yet she still protested the Japanese's shintoism. It reminds you that following and obeying God is more important than bowing to heathen idols.

The true story of a young girl during the Japanese occupation of Korea and World War II. Fancinating to hear of the persecution and trials that the Christians went through in that country. There are many books on the persecution in Europe at this time, but not many on what went on in Asia. Esthers faith and that of her mother are remarkable. At one point she was released from prison only to be told by her mother that she should go back or she wasn't faithful to Christ. A real eye opener on how a true faithful christian endures real trials.
