Jack Reacher is on a bus going nowhere important in the northwest when he picks up a used Army in-house newspaper. Buried in the classifieds is a message for him to contact an old acquaintance. He debates on whether he should make the call, but because he owes him a favor, he gets off the bus and finds a pay phone. Thats when the fun begins. Reacher is flown via private jet back east to find out an assignation attempt was made on the president of France, but because the bullet was American and the sniper above-average, they want/need his help. This story takes us to France and England, and Reacher is more-or-less breaking in a green CIA agent who seems to be addicted to Zoloft. Various drug cartels become involved, as well as other countries secret service. Dodging close-calls, double crosses, and of course, ass-kicking, Reacher closes in on his man.

Ive read all of the Reacher books, LOVE them, and have even met Lee Child, so to say Im a huge fan of the series is not putting it lightly. To me, Reacher can do no wrong; however, I wish this story had more of his famous fighting and outsmarting of the bad guys, along with his dry sense of humor. It seems that Child has written this one to focus more on the inner workings of someones revenge and not so much on the action and, in particular, Reacher. Still, it does give one their Reacher fix until the next book comes out.
