I was disappointed in this one. Not a very good ghost story.

Set in Scottland some times in the nineteenth century, begins the probably most boring ghost story I´ve ever read.
A remote island, a lighthouse, a keeper, his appretice and the keeper´s sister deal with the lost memories of a woman that appeard on their island after a ship drowned in a storm.

The women feels like a hostage on an island as the keeper and his sister try to keep her from leaving the island. A cozy ghost story for Sunday afternoons, forgotten on the next day.

A ghost story/mystery set on a small island with only a lighthouse and its handful of occupants. Creepy and lyrical with a strange twist at the end. It was good. I read it in one sitting.

I so hate when I order a book and discover it's a dud. Character development -- heh, there is none. Every character is cut from cardboard, and not one is likable. Plodding plot. Supposed to take place in late 1800s but the language and cadence is completely contemporary. I didn't care what happened to the characters but the book is mercifully short so I finished it. Would not read anything by this author again. In fact, I believe she owes me a credit for the one I wasted on her book!
