This is the first book in a great cozy series. IMO this one HAS to be read first because it sets the entire basis for the rest of the series (and the 2nd book sums up the entire book in one paragraph and would ruin the suspense if it's read before this one). Main character is rich, lives in Houston area, and story begins with a murder. Lots of twists and turns in this one for being such a short story. In this one character is 'working' at computer company she and her twin sister inherit but isn't 'her calling' and she tries to solve the murder that begins the book.

Very pleasant read, with a nice twist at the end. Enjoyable protagonist, not too stupid or pushy, with a pleasant voice. I will be buying more in this series.

I enjoyed this very much. It's moderately realistic, mildly and pleasantly funny, and gives you something to think about in the end. The author's Texas-grown similes are a continual hoot--she's wildly creative. I'm looking forward to number 2 in the series--as soon as my turn comes.

This was my first Leann Sweeney book. The writing is well done and the story was very interesting. I did not figure out what was happening until I read it. I think that this series is going to be very good. I have already ordered more. The characters were believable and easy to relate to. I read a lot of mysteries and recomend this book. Barabara

I love this series. I have now got the other three that has been written so far. Leann Sweeney does an excellent job in getting you involved in the characters, so much so, you even laugh and cry out loud!

cozy mystery about rich girl who looks into her gardener's murder. fun, light-1st in series. I look forward to reading the next one!
Out of school, out of work, and out of motivation, Abby Rose is contemplating her life and wondering what to do next. It's the kind of situation that would get some girls down, but luckily Abby's got a heart the size of Texas-----and a bank account to match...
When Abby discovers her gardener, Ben, dead in the greenhouse one afternoon, the emptiness of her own life hits her like a glass of ice-cold Texas tea. Ever since her father died, she's been mooning around the pool, making herself as useful as a june bug on a daisy. When the sexy detective from the Houstan P.D. tells her it was poison that killed Ben, Abby realizes what she needs to do with herself: solve a murder. Little does she suspect that the answers to her questions about Ben's death will unlock secrets about her own past--and might change her entire future...

Great book, I couldn't put it down.
It was ok....
What a great read! I found this book to be one of those books that I just couldn't put down. After reading the author's first book in the new "Cats in Trouble" series, I decided to give this series a try and see if it was as good. It sure was! I have all the remaining series on order and can't wait to get them. The only fault I could find with this book was the occasional "really bad words".
not the hardest reading I ever did but it was an enjoyable light book that keep me reading.....I enjoyed it
A good fun read!
As a native Texan, I enjoy books with settings I know and this is no exception. I realized where some of the guilt lay about halfway through the story but was truly surprised with the way Ms. Sweeney kept me guessing so long at how all the loose ends were going to tie together.
This is the first of a series and I will be reading them all.

Love all the references to Houston and Galveston. Great first book.
A fun, cozy mystery which is the first in the Yellow Rose Mystey series featuring Abby Rose. She is a rich girl who investigates her gardener's murder, which is set in tony River Oaks section of Houston, TX (unbelievably wealthy area). Light hearted and humorous.
Cute start to a new series. I look forward to the next book.

Great story! Well worth the time to read.
Well constructed, a quick, enjoyable read.
Very pleased with this book, from the blurb, I thought it would be a typical romantic suspense with a spoiled, rich girl. I'm so glad I went ahead and tried Ms. Sweeney; Abby Rose is a very likeable character, lots of plot twists and believable situations. Very fast, enjoyable read.
Cute story line. Not really a hard read. I call it good bathtub reading
i read the first in the series but I could not get into this one
