If was a different read than the type of book I usually read, but nontheless, it was entertaining.

With my half Irish background, this book's Ireland setting and interesting rural people, was an interesting read.
His style was very descriptive down to every detail, in a way Dickensian. I admired that and enjoyed his writing. Near the end of the book, fanciful events occur which I thought far-fetched but the conclusion for the main characters was very satisfactory.

This was a pleasant enough diversion to read on an airplane.

I wanted to like this book. I didn't. An unlikable protagonist, unlikely plot twists, impossible ending. The irony of the title -- whether the pig referred to is the actual pig or the sexist twerp who goes to visit his Irish aunt -- was not I think intended by the author. My favorite part was that the aunt made her living rewriting ("correcting") famous novels that "deserved" to have "better" stories. Take that, Mr. Rochester.
