Well written, not your typical chick-lit. I've had this book for a while and never read it because I thought it was going to be too chick-litty sappy but I really got into it. I recommend it. I'm surprised it's been on my shelf for as long as it has considering how good it is! I think the title and picture on the cover make people think it's another "Shop-o-holic"type book but it's really not!

I did not agree with any of the decisions the main character made and did not particularly like her as a person. Personally, I would have rather read about the life of her best friend/cousin. He was way more interesting.

Dislike of the main character aside, I must say it is well written and the plot is deeper than I had initially thought. This book evokes emotions by dealing with family, life, love and loss.

This is the best of her books. It is true that at times the characters are not very likable- in fact Lisa's love interest is rarely likable. But there is something very real about her writing. I liked it enough to read it at least twice- if not three times.

I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down. It is a Novel first and foremost. It is not the type of book I typically read for entertainment. I read a lot of romance and thriller. This book has deep characters with enriching experiences. I almost put the book down in the second chapter because there was something that offended me....but I went on and am glad I took the time.

I had mixed feelings about this book-- some the heroine made me mad and other times I liked her. Otherwise pretty good read if you like drama mixed with some humor. (i warn you it might make you cry or/and throw the book)

A romance novel. It is more serious than other chic lit books I have read. A fun read.

This is a great read! It has comic elements, yet serious and complex issues are also addressed. Family ties, work, sex, etc.- all bring the elements of this story to life. Does love win out in the end? You'll have to see for yourself!

This is a funny and endearing look at corporate life and the modern search for love in the big city. Well-drawn characters add to the charm.

I was hoping this book would interest me. I had seen a lot of good reviews about it, but I only read a few chapters before I was bored. I guess it's just not my type of book.

Lisa Diodetto's mother may be ready for her to get married but Lisa isn't.
At her sister's wedding she ducks when the bridal bouquet comes floating her way, and the only "eligible bachelor" in Lisa's life is her beloved gay cousin, Dodie.
Ditching her life as an underpaid, oversexed publishing drone in Manhattan, Lisa takes a lucrative spot at a more conservative company, and begins writing--on company time--a novel that pokes fun at corporate life.
Enter Lisa's main character: her new boss, Eben Strauss. A man of manners and caution, Strauss manages to bring out the best bad girl in Lisa. And before they know it, two very different people from two very different worlds are doing the one thing you should never do at the office: falling in love.
In her funny, familiar, heartbreaking new novel, the award-winning author of Blue Italian weaves a tale of family, work, sex, and love--and of all the things we try to leave behind but never really can. . . .

Lisa Diodetto's mother may be ready for her to get married but Lisa isn't. She decides to move from Manhattan to take a job in the burbs and write the novel she has always wanted to write. Only she falls in love with her boss a serious man. This is the tale of a family, sex, work, love and all the things that happen to a single girl written with humor and all so familiar to anyone who had a mother that wanted them to get married.
