I cannot say I am a huge Buffet fan. I like some of his songs, of course, but I am not a Parrothead. What I do like is his writing. And, also being a music lover, I totally enjoyed this book. Highlights from the year he turned 50; the trip he, family, and friends took in celebration; concerts; fishing trips. Just a fun book to read.

Written in 1996 on the occasion of Buffett's 50th birthday, this book chronicles the details of the Buffett family's whirlwind trip around the Caribbean Islands that his songs have made so familiar to his legion of fans. While telling us of the experiences he has on his birthday trip, he also takes the time to look back over his first 50 years. I am a fan of JB, both as a musician and an author, and I really enjoyed this memoir. I highly recommend this book!
I did enjoy this book but it is just a little too long. However, it has some wonderful stories and I did like it.

I LOVE Jimmy! His memoir is sometimes sad, often funny with a few terrorizing moments thrown in (getting shot at and crashing his plane). I am a big fan of his fiction and his music, and this made me feel like I've seen glimpses of the real man.
There is a little Parrothead in us all......
Jimmy Buffett rambles in a pleasant manner about his passion for flying and travel, about his family, about his money, about stuff. One would have to be a hard-core Buffett fan to enjoy this book.

Reading a Jimmy Buffet book is like sitting down for a beer with an old friend. He can spin a good yarn; you just can't help but feel good about the world when reading/listening to him

Great book for Parrotheads or anyone else who wonders what it would be like to live the life of an unusual rock and roller. Unusual because it is not all "sex, drugs and rock and roll" but living life on your terms whether you are down and out or on top of the world. Not a bad book either for daydreaming about what you would do if you hit the lottery some day! Kind of sweet in the way he talks about growing older and having kids. I enjoyed it as a great light read for plane or beach.

Travel journal of Buffett's trip to celebrate 50 years on the planet.
I really enjoyed this memoir. Buffett wrote it during a family vacation to the Caribbean and South America over Christmas 1996 and New Years 1997. The trip inspired memories of his childhood and of other trips and he weaves these stories into the book. There are also wonderful asides about geography, history, movies, fiction and of course, music. A must read for every parrot head.
I always enjoy reading Buffett's stories. Easy read. Read a lot of it at the beach.
