Not bad, not great. The story was old with only a few new twists. The characters were well written and multi-dimensional. They did not, however, leap off the pages. The writing was mediocre but included some descriptive detail. To me, the best part of the novel was the dialog. MacGregor can write arguments like no one else.

very good book, very, very good author.
Oh Kinley . . . very cliched and not as good as your other novels. If looking for good Kinley MacGregor, skip this and go right to the MacAllister Series or the Lords of Avalon novels. Predictable ending and characters are not unique.

This was my first Kinley MacGregor book. Having read so many by this author under the name Sherrilyn Kenyon, I was curious. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I liked the ending because it wasn't entirely predictable, but still satisfying.

Sure do pity those women of this time. Glad to see a heroine stand up for herself. Loved the story line.
Serenity James is trying to make a name for herself as a reporter. But her story about the dreaded Sea Wolf, a pirate who frees impressed American sailors from English navy ships, draws the attention of Morgan Drake. Morgan wants to know how she knows so much about the Sea Wolf. Not wanting her to tell his every secret, Serenity is kidnapped and taken aboard Morgan's ship on an adventure of a lifetime.
Nice pirate romance. Good storytelling with some very funny scenes.

Terrific pirate romance with MacGregor/Kenyon's special touch. I haven't disliked anything from this author, some are better than others of course, but any of her books are a terrific read!
This is good. A very nice portyal of pirates.
Personally did not care for this one. The book was a bit dry in several places, this was one of her earlier works. She's gotten much much better. So please don't let this review change your mind about reading Kinley Macgregor, her other series are worth it.
MacGregor has the gift to create realistic characters. I have read all of her romance books now and each series is very different. A Pirate of Her Own is a typical but very enjoyable romance. It is a quick read. I found that I was finished with the book before I realized it--no counting pages to see how much longer.
Very entertaining.
Book One of a series-excellent
Great book! Romance and steam without sleeze on the high seas.
Good Book! I love Kinley MacGregor.
Not as good as some of the MacAllister stories or some of her latest work, but still a fairly good read. Master of Seduction is the sister book to this one.
Chraming abduction story with a few quirks, set in the Colonies in 1793. Serenity James, daughter of an American newspaper publisher, wants to be adventurous and write for the paper. She and the Sea Wolf come to terms.
A very nice adventure story! I didn't enjoy this as much as I enjoy Macgregor's fantasy-type stories (the Lords of Avalon, and the DH series written as S. Kenyon) but it was still fun summer reading. :)
Macgregor gets better with each book love this series.
He is the Sea Wolf, a dreaded pirate who stops English navy ships and frees impressed American sailors. Few know Morgan Drake's name, and none guesses at his past. Except, that is, a nosy Savannah reporter named Serenity James. Determined to protect his secrets at any cost, Morgan sets sail for Savannah...and Serenity.
All her life, Serenity has longed for adventure. As a woman, though, she's lucky even to be tolerated in her father's newspaper office. Then she's kidnapped by the bold, sexy pirate whose story fired her imagination, and in his embrace Serenity finds adventure beyond her wildest dreams.
