This falls somewhere in the middle of Carr's mysteries -- not really that great, but not terrible either. Sir Henry doesn't appear until the second half, but that's okay. As a character he can be trying. The murders (only one of which actually happens at Plague Court) are satisfyingly convoluted and explained as long as you go with it. Some of the "action" slows to a crawl now and then, but it's an important milestone in the locked room genre.
