I have never read a book about the Amish before, let alone an Amish romance book. I picked this book out on a bit of a whim thinking I would try something a little different. I am so glad that I did. It is one of the best books I have read in a while. I did not read the first book in this series, Plain Perfect Daughters of the Promise Book 1, but I don't think it makes a difference. This book has its own story to tell and whatever is told in the first book seems like it would be worth it on its own, too. I will put the first book on my list of books to read.

I was drawn into Carley's story. She is feeling lost and unsure of where to go in her life. When she is forced to take a vacation from work, she choose to go and visit her friend, Lillian, who has joined the Amish community. Carley enters a world of faith and community. The story revolves around forgiveness and acceptance of God's plan. We need to let go and listen to God and follow his plan for us.

This book is based very much around faith and God, but it never felt like it was overwhelming or preachy. It blends the idea of spirituality and faith into everyday lives and how we may have different lifestyles (Amish and non-Amish), but that does not mean we cannot still have faith and love for God and we a part of His community.

I finished this book feeling happy and filled with hope. More Amish books will be added to my TBR list!

This is book 2 of a series of 3 "A daughters of the Promise Novel". I came upon the first book at our local library and immediately placed the other 2 books on my wishlist. Beth Wiseman may be new to the writings for Amish Fiction but she can keep up with the best of them (Wanda Brunstetter and Beverly Lewis). In each book she pulls a couple characters that she brings to the forefront while still including the characters from the previous book in the series. I am currently reading book 3. She is worth a look at. If you are a lover of Amish Fiction, you will not be disappointed, and if you have never read Amish Fiction, these books are a great place to start. This book was a very quick read and immensely enjoyable. It was also uplifting without the feeling of a sermon being preached at you the reader. There are also a few recipes included at the end of the book.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were seeking forgiveness or someone was seeking to be forgiven by you? Have you found yourself in a place where you felt led to help someone else no matter what your feelings were towards them?

This was an excellent book. I would recommend it to all especially those who enjoy stories regarding the Amish. It is a wonderful book dealing with the need to forgive.
I was going to repost this book but it is a keeper. I have several dear daughters who would enjoy it as well. This is the first book I have read by Beth Wiseman but I know I will read others. This one made me cry. (Tears of joy!)

I love reading Amish novels, but it's hard finding authors that can live up to the standard that Beverly Lewis set. Beth Wiseman seems to be the exception, and may have even passed that standard. In Plain Pursuit, Wiseman flawlessly blends both views and feelings of the Amish and the "Englisch" when she puts Carley in the Stolfus household and in the middle of the Amish community. It gave the book a certain realism and made the characters multidimensional. I enjoyed the book being centered around an "Englischer" intruding into the lives of the Amish instead of being focused on just the Amish point of view. I found the book refreshing, faith building and heartwarming. (Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but there were even times I found tears trying to surface.)

This is the second book of Wiseman's Daughters of the Promise series, however, I read it as a stand alone novel, and didn't feel lost or like I was missing anything. I did love the book enough to order the first book Plain Perfection and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

One last note... In the back of the book are some absolutely delicious authentic Amish recipes. What a lovely bonus to a delightful novel!

This is from the Authors page:
While all of my books can be read as stand-alones, I think it's much more fun to read them in order. I have two series, Daughters of the Promise and Land of Canaan. Some of the characters cross over, so here is the order I recommend:
Plain Perfect (Daughters of the Promise)
Plain Pursuit (Daughters of the Promise)
Plain Promise (Daughters of the Promise)
Plain Paradise (Daughters of the Promise)
Seek Me With All Your Heart (Land of Canaan)
Plain Proposal (Daughters of the Promise)
The Wonder of Your Love (Land of Canaan)
His Love Endures Forever (Land of Canaan)
Plain Peace (Daughters of the Promise)

Recommend this entire series highly. Haven't read in a while; but, I remember that each novel in this series builds on the last with new characters and new dilemnas. Wiseman crafts believable scenarios and characters who have a commitment to Christ and the church.
