Several times a year I select a non-fiction book to read. I was doing a lot of genealogy when I selected this book and it just blew me away. I remember talking to a few people about it and none of them seemed as interested as me. This book is pure wonderful research and the TRUE story of the westward migration--not what you've seen on tv or in the movies. For anyone interested in history, it's a must. I learned so much I never knew before. Washington Post Book World said "not only the best book yet written on the overland journey, but has also laid to rest a multitude of popular myths.." It's a keeper well worth the money and the time it takes to read it (416 pages). Anyone who had family who was a part of the westward migration, will truly appreciate learning the truth about the journeys of their ancestors.
