I was a little worried about this one, as I'd started it once and never really got into it. But once I got over my mental problem, had a great read! Very fun. I very much enjoyed the internal struggles the main characters underwent as they accepted the relationship between them. A very good read and I was very glad I had the next book in the series waiting to read when I was done with it!

Your Planet or Mine? by Susan Grant was a fast-paced, suspenseful, lively read. It's a rare blend of science ficton and romance with a clear tilt toward romance. Despite an unfortunate title (that has nothing really do to with the plot) and a very silly cover (never judge and all that ...) the story delivers thrills, suspense, romance, some comedy and even political commentary. The story revolves around Cavin Far Star, a soldier from a society of planets that's come to Earth to find a woman he first met when he was a boy visiting Earth with his father. Oh, and while he's here, he's going to try to fool the Coaltition that the Earth already has space worthy aircraft and maybe they should give up the invasion idea.
Homage to other sci-fi exists in droves here. And it's a lot of fun finding them along the way. The Coalition reminds us of Farscape's Peacekeepers. Not to mention the heroes surname. The Terminator is given it's due with a great Terminator-like secondary character that is trying to kill Cavin. But to give Grant her due, her treatment of this terminator elevated far above mindless killer. He was more human and able to reason and change. (Oh, and he called himself Reef, which couldn't help but make me think of Reese from The Terminator movie.) The scenes with this character stole the book. That and the Chihuahua.
Grant has a light comedic touch, especially through the first third of the book. But when she gets a little dark and the menace grows that's where her writing really shines. I haven't read anything else by this author yet, but if she's done some more serious fare I'd bet it's fantastic.
So as you wait for Caprica to start definitely ignore both the title and the cover and give this hard to classify book a try.

I liked it a lot! 4 stars. Recommended for someone who likes scifi romance lite.
When Jana was a little girl, she meet a boy stuck in the tree outside her bedroom window. She was also mute, but after meeting him, was able to talk. This boy, whom she thought was imaginary, stuck with her. Cavin, the boy, also never forgot her. He comes to earth again to warn her about an invasion.
This was a light, fluffy romance that didn't take itself too seriously and just perfect to read on a cloudy afternoon. I liked that Jana was a politician, who got into it "for the right reasons." I really like the Terminator movies, but all references date this book. Also, couldn't the governor of CA have a different name?? Instead of Schwarzenegger, it was Schwarzkopf- a real name (Gen Norman Schwarzkopf). I also liked the idea of the second story-line, (who is trying to smear/get rid of the Jaspers) but it flat-lined. In all, just too much was going on (impending invasion, assassin(s), smear campaigns, etc).

Great book. Wonderful characters and the story is entertaining.
...Hunky interstellar fugitive, aisle 5--he had her at "Greetings, Earthling"...
...the last thing Jana Jasper needs is more trouble--especially man trouble. But when she heads to the grocery store for an ice cream fix, not only does the muscled hunk in the frozen foods section ranting about spaceships and invasions look crazy, he looks...familiar.
He hasn't forgotten the girl he met during a previous visit to this quaint little world. Now he will risk his future to save her.

Excellent book! From the back cover: With outrageously false accusations piling up against her famous political family and an ex-fiancé in hot water determined to take her down with him, the last thing Jana Jasper needs is more trouble especially man trouble. Cavin of Far Star has never forgotten the girl he met during his weeks spent on that quaint little world, planet Earth, the girl who didn't believe he was real. And now he'll risk his future to save her. All she has to do is take him to her leader. Simple enough plan although Jana isn't so easily convinced. Hell-bent on charming his way past her defenses, he's determined to stay one step ahead of the galaxy's most feared assassin and may just capture his favorite Earthling's heart in the process.
