This is an incredible book, one that delves into the potential of healing that is available to us in our own communities in the spirit of plants growing all around us. For the skeptic, this book might bring up great doubts. Cowan is not exploring the possibilities of herbalism here, and honestly, after reading this book, herbalism, too, seems limited to the same problem-solution thinking that western medicine often embraces. Cowan shares great stories from his own healing work, as well as great stories of his encounters with other powerful healers, all offering the possibility to the reader that healing means far more than the curing of disease. An amazing book!!
