This didn't really hang together for me. I think she is trying to make science accessible by giving hypothetical examples of friends who don't behave in ways that nurture friendships, but the science ends of being too light and the examples are things like 2 people went on a trip together, one missed her ex boyfriend and the other friend started screaming at her.

There is some good advice, specifically about how to communicate better, but maybe this book would be better it were just skimmed.
