As a first book in a series this book takes a little time to develop the main characters, but they're appealing and drew me in enough that I finished the book and have ordered the next two in the series.
The action begins immediately and rolls along at a brisk pace. Sometimes the pieces seem a little disjointed, but by the end they all fit together well and satisfy your sense of curiosity and justice.
