I was afraid this book wouldn't live up to my expectations b/c I was looking forward to it so much. I had nothing to worry about! This is my favorite storyline (girl w/body issues & a guy who did her wrong)and Ava & Cade were absolutely perfect. Ava was believable as a former fat girl who still has generous curves. She loves herself but still has a lot of insecurity. Cade redeems himself and proves himself worthy of her and their love story is beautiful! The side 'mystery' story didn't take up too much room and wraps up nicely.

good, but not great!
Andersen brings her Sisterhood trilogy to a satisfying close with the story of Ava, a fat girl cruelly betrayed by her first lover, Cade Gallari, in high school. Thirteen years later she has become a gorgeous voluptuous woman with a unique career, but inside she still struggles with an inner vision based on her weight. Ava is strong and vulnerable by turns and the focus is on her more than Cade, who has compelling reasons for his actions long ago. Their romance is tightly spun, Cade wanting to be forgiven and Ava attracted in spite of herself. Poppy and Jane from the previous books appear in this book which has a slight mystery that ties up loose ends from the series with HEAs all around.
A very good series. Fun to read
Loved this book not found one her books I haven't liked
Such a fun ending to the book. I would suggest that you read the other two books first. You wouldn't be lost if you didn't but you would appreciate it more. My biggest complaint is that the other two books were written so long ago that I forgot a bit about what/who/when/why. It took a little bit for me to recall everything.
I think this book is the best out of the three. It had cool characters. I actually wasn't impressed with Ava in the other books but I ended up liking her the best after this. Worth the read if you have read the others but I think as a stand-alone it would be weak.

Another winner. Susan Andersen is always funny, sexy and interesting.
Middle of the road
I think thats the best way to describe Susan Andersen's Playing Dirty . It's not bad, but it's not unbelievably great, either. If I'd gotten the paperback version, I'd probably swap it. I think this is one of those times, when the synopsis makes the book sound a lot better then it really is.
I've only read a few SA books, but it's well written...and despite being book three in this series, this pretty much read as a stand alone... There were a few mentions of previous books, but nothing that made me feel lost, and better yet, there weren't real spoilers, so if I wanted to go back and read the first 2 books, I could still do so, without already knowing what happens.
Now as far as the main characters go...they were all right. They didn't sparkle, the didn't shine brighter than any H and h before them, but I didn't hate them. The heroine was a little too stubborn, though with her history it is understandable....still I couldn't help be a little aggravated with her.
As for the Hero...meh... He was okay, but honestly now that I've finished the book, I'm already forgetting all about him....not exactly the marks of the greatest hero ever, huh?
Having said that I think my major issue is that there's not really enough story....there's a side story re: stolen diamonds, that felt a lot like filler, rather then a necessary part of the story...the 'bad guy' was pretty inept but I'm not sure if that very trait was supposed to be funny or not...i sorta kinda thought he was just ridiculous, and I wish he'd never been mentioned.
It just didn't feel like the H and 's relationship really developed....it was like one minute, they coexisted with a shared history, and then the next they were in a 'relationship'....
so yeah, an okay way to past the time, but not a 'must read' by any means. any H and h before them, but I didn't hate them. The heroine was a little too stubborn, though with her history it is understandable....still I couldn't help be a little aggravated with her.
