As with the other "Between the Numbers" books, this book brought back Diesel and the Unmentionables, but instead of Christmas, Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's day, we got a taste of fall in Trenton, New Jersey.

What I liked best about this book, was that it is a full length novel, and Ranger and Morelli have more active roles in this book than in the previous "BTN" books, plus we got a lot more face time with Diesel.

If you have liked the other "BTN" books you will really enjoy this one as well. If you haven't read the others, I strongly suggest you read them first. They are, in order, 'Visions of Sugar Plums', 'Plum Lovin' and 'Plum Lucky'. They will help you to really understand the world of Unmentionables and Diesel.

As per usual, there were plenty of stun gun accidents, cars being destroyed, things blowing up, Lulu shooting, Grandma Mozur, funerals, the Buick, and things just generally going wonky wherever Stephanie happens to be. In other words, typical Stephanie Plum chaos insues.

This was an okay book, but as far as Stephanie Plum's go, it wasn't one of the best. I could have easily skipped it. I liked seeing more of the Tank/Lula relationship, and the whole bit with the monkeys was a riot, but overall, it just wasn't memorable.

I was surprised that this book was actually better than the last couple of stinkers that I've read in the series. I'd almost given up hope on the Plum crew after those. This book gave me a few great laughs (although none of that laughing until I cried like I experienced in the earlier novels), but the gags with the monkey ran dry after awhile and I didn't laugh at those nearly as much as I'm sure the author wanted me to. Still, it's not one of the best in the series, and even though it was good enough to keep me interested in reading future books in this series, I will only be using PBS credits to get them so I don't waste my money on a new copy.

This book reminded my of Hot Six and Seven Up...fun and a fast read!! I am glad that the author seems to have gotten back to the Stephanie Plum we all know and love! Cars get ruined, the Buick comes back out, there are monkeys coming out of the woodwork, and the men are all hot and sexy! A fun read!!

Stephanie's friend Susan leaves her Monkey named Carl on Stephanie's door step to be pet sat and Stephanie,s friend Diesel shows up to help her track down a bond jumper named Munch because Munch is hanging with Wulf who Diesel needs to find. Diesel wants to hang with Steph because her aura mixes with Diesels aura and makes it harder for Wulf to sniff out Diesel's location. But that means Stephanie ends up sharing her bed with Diesel who is just too big to be comfortable on the sofa. It is a good thing that Joe Morelli is kept busy with his messy, demanding Brother Anthony who is staying at his house and who leaves a naked woman sleeping alone in Joe's bed. Joe is just too distracted with Anthony to worry too much about Diesel and Stephanie. The story gathers speed as Munch and Wulf begin to blow up locations and Stephanie and Diesel and Carl the Monkey follow them deep into Cranberry Bog Country known as the Pine Barrens. The Barrens is home to strange characters such as Gail the animal rescue woman who has a corral full of Monkeys wearing helmets, The Bunny man and of course Munch and Wulf's hideout. Carl the monkey comes along and lets the monkeys in the corral loose and the fun begins. Oh, during all of this, Lulu decides her engagement to Tank might not be a good idea because he adopted some cats and she is allergic. A great read!

By far one of the funniest in this series. I just love it, Lula is especially hilarious in this one, as always, couldn't get enough of it. My love intrest, diesel, is back as well as Ranger. Whoo hooo. Very fun and funny read, a great pick me up if you're having one of those days.

Also, I came back to edit my original review to include this. But my brother Bill asked me and his wife to find him a book to read. Seeing as its been over a decade since he picked up a book we knew it had to be funny and keep his interest. We gave him this one to read and he loved it!

It seems that with each new book the Plum series gets worse. I love all the characters and funny situations they get into. The thing is as I read a series I like to see the characters grow and learn lessons in life. It seems that Stephanie and her motley group of friends are just kind of stuck and never progress forward in life.

That being said I still enjoyed the book. I just didn't like it as much as say the first 12 or so books in the series. It has plenty of laugh out loud funny parts, and is a super quick read. I just hope the next book in the series has lots more of the Staphanie, Morelli, and Ranger sex triangle tension that makes the series so addicting!

This book brings it all back again: Diesel showed up again looking for a fellow with odd powers just like his, in fact, they are related. Stephanie has a monkey dropped off at her door for babysitting. Morelli's house is invaded by one of his relatives. Lula and Stephanie have no luck bounty hunting and end up with fruit on them and broken heels. A quick great read, and a nice visit with old friends.

Typical Janet Evanovich. This series is a little far fetched. Has the usual extreme actions, and funny lines. It was enjoyable, but I'm getting a little tired of Diesel and his para-normal abilities. Ranger shows up a few times and saves Stephanie, and Morelli only appears by telephone, but has lots of funny conversations.

I always prefer the numbers books, because the "between the numbers" books get a little goofy...however, this one was pretty cool. I do prefer Morelli and Ranger to Diesel, but it is nice to see Diesel once in a while (I guess that's probably Stephanie's opinion too!) Enjoyed this one much more than Plum Lucky.

I was most disappointed. This is not the quality that I have found in Evanovich's other books. The characters were far, far out, and, often, I really didnt know what the story line was. Too much slap stick attempts at comedy which only proved distasteful.

I loved this book! The super smart monkey who goes nuts for video games is hilarious! I'd actually like it if he became a permanent character in her future novels. Also, I know its good that Stephanie has morals but I'd really like to read about more hanky panky with Diesel! Sigh, what a hunk!!!

Plum Spooky was alright. Diesel's back, tracking down his cousin, Wulf, and Stephanie needs to find Martin Munch or her cousin Vinnie will go into the red. Apparently his boss is not one to cross. Diesel and Stephanie work together to find them since Martin and Wulf are in cahoots. It had the usual antics and made me chuckle a few times. It's a cute addition to the series.

Absolutely terrible. It was like a para-normal Ranger-type meets a spectre. It made no sense. It felt like Stephanie Plum and a few of the regular characters were thrown in for authenticity, but it had nothing to do with them. Extremely disappointing!

I thought this book was hysterial...from Carl to Diesel to Martin Munch. The personalities of each character really came out and, although not realistic, they're fun nonetheless. If you like the Stephanie Plum series, this one will also entertain you. A quick, lighthearted read.

This book was so-so. I liked that Joe and Ranger were more active in it than the other betweeen the numbers books, but there was not nearly as many laughs as the other Stephanie Plum novels. It was a quick read but next time I'll probably just borrow it from the library.

If you've read any of the Stephanie Plum stories prior to this one, with a stretch of the imagination, you could possibly place yourself in her antics. Her bounty hunting escapades could be "real life" for those of us with negative juju. This story is a little over the top. Though I enjoyed it's ability to "take me away", the story line was a stretch. You will enjoy the return characters and a few new characters will be added to your calling plan, however, I hope the author doesn't contine with this line of writing. Kick back, enjoy the ride, because it will take you beyond your imagination.

This was pretty good and funny as hell. The between-the-numbers novels are a little more out there than the regular ones, but they are still just as entertaining. My only beef with this one is that I felt that the ending was to abrupt. It was kind of like "ok...what's next?."

this got me started on Stephanie Plum books!
This is a hilarious series of funny storied books. I read one book and then had to find them all.
Unfortunately Janet doesn't know how to turn on the heat for the romantic side of her stories... and how come Stephanie is never compensated for her losses, and is always just an out of luck victim?? Her new brother in law could be suing these guys for her.

I read for entertainment and Janet Evanovich never fails to entertain me with her Stephanie Plum character. This book is no exception, actually the first one of her "Between-the-Numbers" books I have read. When I want light, fun reading, I can depend on Evanovich. She is just funny and I sit there reading with a grin plastered on my face through the whole book. Absolutely delightful!

On the search for a geeky dude named Munch and in over her head as always, bail bonds woman Stephanie Plum gets into all sorts of jams when she enters the scary redneck territory known as The Pines. The usual sexy men in Stephanies life make appearances as well as a Mario Bros. loving monkey, his slew of new monkey pals and, of course, Lula with her usual her zany awesomeness. I think I missed a few Plum books along the way because I had to do a double take (make that a rewind) when Diesel, a fellow bounty hunter (who is drop dead gorgeous, wouldnt you know?), drops in and makes himself all cozy in Stephanies bed. Wait! What? How did I miss this? And he has some superhuman powers?! Rounding out the bunch is a guy whose farts set his ass aflame. Only in Plumlandia . . .

This book was so much fun. Even though deranged Munch desperately wants to use Stephanie as his own personal sex toy things never get too dark here. I dont know if I could stomach a steady diet of these Plum books but I do so enjoy reading them every now and then to cleanse my brain of dreariness.

Stephanie Plum, the bounty hunter, works with Diesel (her disappearing firend who only seems to appear in these between the numbers books) to track down a scientist and his accomplice who want to take over the world with a weather machine. Another friend needs her monkey babysat. All of this goes together for a fun and funny story. Not her best effort however.

I liked this, but I didn't. It was 309 pages of 'in between', -so titled. The monkey parts were hilarious. As for the rest, I felt like I could live without this one. It was a struggle to finish. I just didn't seem to care enough about weather producing rockets in the Pine Barrens. Much like the Pine Barrens, there were sooo many repeated chapters of lost in the woods. I also felt like all the men in her life are sardine-d into little less than whole chapters.

Laugh Out Loud Funny!
The premise is:
Diesel, a law enforcement type with almost supernatural powers re enters Stephanie's life. He is looking to stop his cousin Wulf; a bad guy with similar supernatural powers.
Stephanie is looking for a scientist who skipped his bail and has been recruited by Wulf.
Thus she and Diesel hook up for most of the story.
But the real fun comes in the "how" things are resolved. This book is full of the most colorful and entertaining characters I have seen in a book for a long time.
There is Carl the monkey who understands English perfectly and is ready and able to flip you the bird if you annoy him. A guy called the Easter Bunny who wears a pink bunny suit, and Elmer the Fire Farter. There are many more.
The story flys along. The Hijinks are hysterical. I laughed out loud for real many times.
If you like to laugh I highly recommend it :)

Trenton, New Jersey-based bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is the all-American girl stuck in an uncomfortable job, succeeding on luck and tenacity. On her current most wanted, Martin Munch , a man whose body hasn't made it out of the boys' department at Macy's but whose larger-than-life brain is the means to his business partner's murderous ends. Usually Stephanie gets her man. This time, she gets Diesel, a bounty hunter whose special skills include tracking men and pleasing women. Now it's up to Stephanie and Diesel to hunt down Munch through the Pine Barrens and face the legendary Jersey Devil--prowling above the treetops in the dark of night- and find a way to survive cranberry bogs, sand in their underwear, too many monkeys to count...and, of course, each other.

Unmentionables are an interesting bunch. Stephanie tags three fta's possibly four. Diesel comes for a visit. Morelli's brother Anthony drives him crazy. Carl, the monkey, is staying with Steph while Susan Stitch is on her honeymoon. We meet Wulf, Diesel's cousin, who is the bid bag guy in the book. Elmer has an affliction and helps blow the lid off the entire case! Ranger is always helpful and really does care. Although I'm sure he bled money on Steph's latest adventure! Stay tuned...
