I'm sure this is an outstanding book, but I'll give it only 3 stars because......
it's been done so many times before, During WW-2, a German girl works for an aristocrat wealthy Jewish family, falls in love with son, they secretly meet for awhile, they get separated, she thinks he was killed......
I've read so many of these stories, I can't be objective.

I'm sorry -- I just couldn't get past the first couple chapters. It's so over-written. Way too many adjectives.
This is the 2nd Wiseman book I have read and enjoyed.
Wiseman delves into the lives of civilians in Germany who were struggling under Hitler's reign of terror while presenting the story of Christine, a young german girl who was in love with Isaac, who was Jewish and the dire consequences suffered by her and her family because of that love. It was a story of their survival, courage, and resilience.

A page turner. A book I found hard to put down.
