Eigth in the series but probably still accessible for a new reader. I liked that it looks pretty small-scale at first but turns out there are larger implications. The situation with Quinton's father was odd - I kept wondering what exactly Quinton was doing to try and hinder the "project". I liked the other characters that Harper had to draw in to make it work, and the changed relationship with Carlos is quite interesting. I liked that we don't see the Danzingers at all - I do like them as characters but they were getting too prominent. This one isn't as action-packed as some of the others but it has some good scenes, and the usual excellent sense of place mixed with some interesting legends from elsewhere.
