I think Annie Proulx has a fun way of approaching stories. She tells this story through a series of postcards. It's interesting story with a nice pace.

Any collection of short stories by this author, E. Annie Proulx, can be considered a masterpiece in its own right...this one is no exception. Great stories!

I love Annie Proulx's writing! This book reminds me of Steinbeck... you feel the setting and the torment of the main character, Loyal Blood, who could have stepped out of the pages of The Grapes of Wrath. It's a quiet but absorbing read... highly recommended.

Too slow for me.

You'll simply love this format. Another Proulx winner!

I admit, this book did start out a bit slow. But it picked up and read pretty quickly after the first couple chapters. I enjoy the author's unique prose. Her books are a great change of pace from the other things I come across! This book is an interesting look at the various members of a settled New England family in a changing world.

This was my first attempt at Proulx, I got in 49 pages and quit! It's some rambling account of family that does not hold together. It IS the 1993 PEN/Faulkner award and her first novel. You tell me what it's about!

It was a slow start and I just couldn't get into this book at all. I am sure that someone else would love it, it's just not my "style" of read.

"Story makes this novel compelling; technique makes it beautiful." - David Bradley, The New York Times Book Review

Author Proulx wrote this winner of the Pen/Faulkner Award for Fiction story before she penned her more famous Shipping News. Postcards showcases her talent in a rich and original way. I enjoyed this different tale of an odd, human, sometimes dark family. I praticularly enjoyed the author's craftsmanship - very, very well written.
