This is a wonderful tribute to your mother. You are so lucky to have had her. You should print this out and show it to her.
My Precious Mother... is the mother of six, I have one brother (he's the oldest) and four sisters, two older than I am and two younger than myself. My Mom has done so much for all of us and has sacraficed herself for us ever since I can remember. She is a widow now, but even when she was married she was really more like both our Dad and our Mom. When we were little she held numerous jobs (2 or 3 at a time) just so that she could afford to send us to a private school, so that we could have all of the opportunities she never had. She is a very kind, loving, friendly, active, indepedent and determined woman. She loves to cook and have people over and always ends up feeding everyone who goes through her front door. No matter how tired she was after working long hours at her job she always made time for us and often read to us or made up bedtime stories that I shall never forget. Growing up we were extremely poor financially speaking, but we didn't know this until we were older because we never went without any of the basic necessities. We never went hungry, although I'm sure she skipped many meals to give her children the very best. She never went on Welfare but somehow managed to not only support us but also give us a wonderful childhood as well. We always woke up to the smell of a home cooked breakfast (O.J., toast, eggs, oatmeal and homemade flour tortillas), we always came home to a clean house and slept in our warm little beds, all thanks to the Wonderful Mother we were so lucky to have. Through her example My Mom has taught me that: our goals can be reached through hard work and perseverance, that Life is short so enjoy it, (her Father whom she Loved so much, passed away when she was about 10 yrs. old, she was his favorite). She has taught me that Life is what we make of it, that no matter what...Family must always come first, and that actions speak louder than words. She taught me to Love and Trust God and to respect others, and to always be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Approximately three and a half years ago someone ran a stop sign and hit her vehicle, totaling her van. The doctors at the E.R. said she was lucky to have walked out alive. Shortly afterwards she had to undergo surgery to obtain a pace-maker because the accident worsened her heart condition (She suffers from Congestive Heart Failure which causes her to become easily fatigued). Lately she has had to obtain Home Oxygen Equipment and this has been a bit frustrating to her because she is such an active person and feels more restricted somehow. There aren't enough words to help you understand just what a Great Person and Wonderful Mom My Mother is and has always been! She still celebrates each and everyone of our birthdays. She still buys us stuffed animals or brings us back a little souvenir of the places she visits. She still makes us her homemade flour tortillas (and her homemade tamales for: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve). She is the glue that holds our family together. She is my biggest source of inspiration, My Greatest Hero and the most Beautiful Person that I know. |
