Mandy's best friend, Nat, and her stepfather's niece, Laura, are engaged. Keeping her mother from running the wedding should be all Mandy has to concern herself with, but that is to not be the case.

One of Mandy's customers, Ardith, has changed her appearance in various, subtle ways. Not only has Ardith changed her appearance for her boyfriend, she thanks Mandy for having the open house at the cleaners where she met the boyfriend. Ardith refuses to give Mandy a name but says she will when the time is right. The right time never comes because Ardith is found murdered. When Mandy discovers there is a dry cleaning connection between this murder and another one, she reluctantly realizes that she has to figure out who the murderer is before her cleaning business reputation is ruined.

This book follows the same formula as all the previous books. The only character that is portrayed differently is Nat, but with his upcoming marriage, it makes sense that he wouldn't be quite as obnoxious as normal in trying to get Mandy to give up investigation details. It was also nice to not have Stan be a part of this book. (I like Travis much better!)

This book is a quick, relaxing read.

Author update: I was reading Delores Johnson's biography online to see if it said anything about a possible upcoming book in the series. Delores passed away in April, so I guess this is the last book unless she left a manuscript behind.

I have read a few of the Mandy Dyer mysteries and I love this one just like the others. It was great.

I like the Mandy Dyer mystery series. Mandy owns a dry cleaner and that business seems to attract murder whether it is a body outside the back door or a mysterious object or note in a pocket of a jacket to be cleaned. She deals with inept or nosy employees, irritating customers, and the detectives investigating the murders that she has become involved in with equal determination and flair.
