I absolutely love this book! It's been years since I read it, but I still remember how great it was. Lori Wick just knows how to write a good, clean romance novel. I enjoy all her books. Get ready to get lost for a few days... :)

As always, Lori Wick's books are incredible. This is a more modern, rather than her more historical writing.

This book is about trials and how some overcome them. I enjoyed reading what the girls had to overcome and how they became better people.

Lori Wick has been my all time favorite christian author since I discovered her books at age 17. 16 years later, she still is! Pretense is probably my all time favorite christian novel. Wick is such an amazing author, with a gift of putting you right in the story and making you feel as though you know these people. I read this at age 18, I think, and it's probably one of the few books I've read at least 5 or 6 times. At least!

This is an older book than I generally read, as I'm reading it in 2015, but it was published in 1998, so the style of writing is a bit looser. It took me a while to get into this novel. I usually only give a book 30 pages, but decided I'd give it up to 100. There are 702 pages in this edition. I'm so glad I stuck with it, as I enjoyed it immensely.

Pretense is quite a complex story--not exactly a family saga, since it only covers 2 generations, but a story of family relationships, especially the relationship of two sisters. It is also a story of friendship, romance, and personal growth. The book begins in 1976 and goes through the early 1990's. I would say this is an unusual and compelling story. The spiritual thread takes center stage throughout this book, so if you prefer not to delve deeply into spiritual growth, I doubt that you would enjoy this book.

I am only giving this book 4 stars, because it was hard to get into, but otherwise, I loved it and will long remember the characters and their story.

You will love this story about two sisters who are so very close. It was so absorbing that I felt I was emotionally involved, I cried and rejoyced along with them.
