Kimberly K. reviewed Prevention's low-fat, low-cost freezer cookbook: Quick dishes for and from the freezer (Quick and Healthy Low-Fat Cooking) on + 6 more book reviews
I was looking for recipes for healthy meals that I could prepare ahead of time, freeze and reheat later. This book has many recipes for foods that are purchased frozen, such as veggies, fish, meat etc. Not all of the recipes are designed to be made ahead and frozen.
Each recipe is marked as either 'For the freezer' or 'From the freezer'. Also listed is a rough list of nutrition info: calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium and fiber. The authors also estimate the cost per serving though since the book is 15 years old that info is outdated. So far, I have only made a couple recipes.
The ingredients are common, easy to find items. The recipes include meat, fish, pasta, vegetarian main meals as well as sides, breads and desserts.
I would prefer that the protein content was listed for these items. I am glad that I have this book and am looking forward to trying some more recipes.
