I think these are "fun mysteries". A little "whodidit" but not so serious or gory in detail. It's fun to figure out without having to squirm. And the bonus - the recipes are fun to read.

Interesting mystery. Had some humerous sides to it as well, also some delicious recipes!

Another great mystery novel by Diane Mott Davidson. I absolutely love this series and will be sorry once I catch up! I'll surely miss Goldy and her wit!

You could die from reading one of Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mysteries: this one includes recipes for Jailbreak Potatoes (butter, whipping cream, freshly grated Parmesan cheese) and Labor Day Flourless Chocolate Cake with Berries, Melba Sauce, and White Chocolate Cream (butter, chocolate, eggs, sugar, whipping cream). So you might want to take both the recipes and Davidson's pinball machine-like plots in small bites. This time, caterer Goldy Schulz careens between the worlds of contracting and high fashion models, with bodies from both camps falling into the food. It's all in fun, and readers have been lapping up Davidson's merry mélanges with increasing appetite...

great murder mystery and a quick read
Good series of mysteries
Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz series.
You learn a lot about the catering trade reading Davidson's books. She gives you enough information that you think you know what is going on, but you can't figure out the why.
Caterer mystery with recipes. It's a mystery that involves the dead contractor's unwholesome past, a food saboteur, the theft of 4 historical cookbooks, and an overzealous D.A. who has suspended Goldy's detective husband, Tom, from the force. What Goldy discovers is the perfect recipe for murder. And she may be dessert!
Goldy is back and better than ever!
Colorado caterer Goldie Shultz has big time problems in this book. Someone is trying to drive her out of business. Her kitchen in the process of being remodled is in a mess and then her contractor is found dead in a friends house. Things just couldn't get worse or could they?
One of my favorite writers.
I love her books...and try some of the recipes!
another Goldy Schulz mystery, with recipes. Great fun!
love this series. Tenth is the series.
I love Diane Mott Davidson's books.
The author wrote a series of culinary cozy mysteries featuring Goldy Bear Schultz. This is the eighth one written in 1998. The pattern is the same for all of them. There is food, recipes and those who make and serve it. The novels are easy reads. If you like them go for it. They are relaxing and entertaining.
In this tale Goldy is trying to keep her catering business alive as a competing caterer strives to drive her out of business. And, her ex husband wants revenge from his jail cell. With a broken window she hires a contractor who takes her money, ruins her kitchen and disappears. Later he is found dead in a good friend's home. Then her cooking teacher, Andre Hibbard, who is helping her cope with the catering from the outdated kitchen, dies of a heart attack. The question she has was that really the cause of her death?
As things worsen, Goldy realizes that she herself must do her own investigation to keep her business, save her current husband, Tom, and her life. As it all spins out of control she strives to keep her son, Arch, seeing her ex husband. However, he only takes their son for visitation when it interferes with Goldy's plans. Perhaps she is too accommodating because he is rude, disrespectful and dangerous. It's a quick comforting read

Another great read! Love this series! Yummy Food & mysterious murders!
A Catrerers nightmare, A dash of Cold Blooded Murder, and a Recipe for disaster
Poplular mystery by a popular author. Her titles make me hungry!
This is #8 in the series:
A caterer's nightmare...
Caterer Goldy Schulz is convinced things couldn't get worse. An unscrupulous rival is driving her out of business. An incompetent contractor has left her precious kitchen in shambles. And she has just agreed to cater a fashion shoot at a nineteenth-century mountain cabin with her mentor and old friend, French chef André Hibbard.
A dash of cold-blooded murder...
Together Goldy and André struggle in a hopelessly outdated kitchen to cater to a vacuous crowd of beautiful people whose personal dramas climax when a camera is pitched through a window...into the buffet. Then Goldy's contractor is found hanging in the house of one of her best friends. A second murder follows and Goldy must somehow solve a mystery and prepare for a society soirée that could make--or break--her career.
A recipe for disaster...

Goldy Bear is a caterer who solves mysteries, while we are treated to some of her best recipes.
Delicious Goldie!
Her books are a pleasure to read...and all those wonderful recipes
I know I say it again and again, but I adore Goldy and this mystery series. I hope DMD writes them forever (or at least until Arch has gone to college, graduated, gotten married, had kids etc.)
Well, I didn't like this one as much as I have others in the series, but it was still good.
From Publishers Weekly: "In the markedly lighthearted eighth outing (after The Grilling Season, 1997), Aspen Meadows, Colo., caterer Goldy Schulz is ousted from her kitchen. Bilked, like many other residents, by local contractor Gerald Eliot, her workplace in a shambles, she agrees to help her old teacher, Chef Andre, as he caters a Christmas catalogue fashion shoot. On the way home from the acrimonious set, she stops by to visit her friend Cameron Burr, whose house has also been ravaged by Eliot. Searching for a coffee pot, she discovers Eliot's dead body. At the scene, the police find one of four cookbooks that had been stolen from the museum where Eliot was a part-time guard. Goldy's husband, Tom (a cop), has a confrontation with his rude and politically ambitious boss and is suspended from the force while charges of insubordination are investigated. Compounding Goldy's problems is an aggressive new local caterer who seems bent on stealing Goldy's clients. When Andre is killed, Goldy slips into her super-detective mode to find out who murdered two such disparate victims and why the antique cookbooks were stolen. Despite the accumulation of bad news, Goldy retains her optimism. Davidson laces her frothy tale with 11 calories-be-damned recipes likely to keep readers satisfied on the gustatory front as well as the narrative one." Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc.
Interesting mystery, includes some excellent recipes, heroine is a catererSuspence
Great Series. Nice story, fun characters and good recipes.
Another great part of the series
this book really caught my interest, I think it was the hidden gold. I did figure out the why but not the who.
Yummmmm, I get hungry just reading the title, can't wait to read about the food surrounding another murder/mystery.
The trials and tribulations of a caterer. This book has several recipes that are really good and all in all I enjoyed more than any other mystery book I've ever read
I keep wondering how a chef in a small town manages to get into so much trouble!
Culinary mystery from the queen of culinary mysteries. I love this series; in this episode, Goldy gets mixed up in murder while she is catering a fashion photo shoot. Includes recipes.
I like the idea that Goldy had to deal with some competition in the catering field and Tom suffered job tension. These conflicts added a different texture to this book's story line.
I was introduced to this author recently. Her books have really interesting characters and the stories are intricate, but interesting and easy to follow all the twists and turns. The main character is a caterer cum detective. The books also include recipes for the dishes she talks aabout.
