One fo my favorites by julie garwood, this one takes our love birds to the american west so she can rescue her sisters children from the horrible uncle and while theirs is supposed to be a marriage of convience it of course becomes more than that as these two strong willed and smart people discover what it means to trust/
Only her beloved grandmother, Lady Esther, knew how devastated Taylor Stapleton had been when her fiance eloped with Taylor's cousin, Jane. Now that good lady, one of London's richest and most formidable matriarchs, lay dying. But first, she was going to help Taylor pull off the scam of the season. To escape becoming a ward of her unscrupulous uncle, Taylor would wed Lucas Ross, a rugged American rancher. Lady Esther's money would enable Ross to bring his youngest half-brother home to Montana. Taylor had her own urgent reason to go to America, a precious legacy she hadn't revealed to Ross for they had agreed to go their separate ways once they reached Boston. But as her handsome new husband spoke of life in Montana, Taylor began planning a new future. To Taylor, the wide open spaces of Montana sounded like paradise.

Funny romance. My favorite kind where the heroine seems ditzy but is actually quite clever.
Loved it!
She is very independent because she is canny of the responsibility of caring for her young nieces and keeping them from her uncle's depraved clutches. He is ruggedly American and drawn to her agsinst his will.... WONDERFUL!!!
Highly enjoyable.
Humor, sweetness and passion describes this story of an English miss who needs the protection of a rugged American rancher.
A good read. Too much sugeestive sexual content for my taste though.
this book I have read several time through the years and enjoy it each time I read it.
Taylor Stapleton was a lady, and ladies never lost their composure. Only her beloved grandmother, Lade Esther, knew how devastated she had been when her fiance eloped with Taylor's odious cousin, Jane. Now that good lady--one of London's richest and most formidable matriarchs--lay dying. But first she was going to help Taylor pull off the scam of the season.
Lucas Ross hated England. He hated the filthy air, the prissy men, and the simpering women. He'd come to London for one reason: to take his youngest half-brother home to live under the wide-open skies of his ranch in the Montana Territory. He'd been forced, incredibly, to purchase the boy's freedom from his legal guardian, who was not only Lucas's oldest half-brother--and sole heir to their father's fortune--he also happened to be the same vile sscoundrel who had humiliated Taylor Stapleton. By marrying Taylor, Lucus figured he would gain fiancial freedom, help a beautiful lady--and give his despised older brother a taste of his own medicine.
Taylor consented readily to her grandmother's scheme. Without Lucas as her protector, when Lady Ester died she would become her uncle's ward, and no doubt be forced into a marriage that would benefit his pocketbook at the expense of her heart. But Taylor had an urgent reason to go to America--to collect a precious legacy that Lucas Ross needn't know about, yet.
As they set sail for America--leaving behind a ballroom full of friends and relations still speechless over the news of their marriage, leaving England behind forever--Taylor felt no regrets, only a wonderful, exhilarating sense of liberation. And, as her handsome new husband spoke fo the wild, rugged life in Montana--never suspecting how Taylor's soul hungered for open spaces--she began planning a new future. Their agreement was that Lucas would excort her safely to Boston, and they'd go their separate ways. But as soon as she found what she was looking for, she was going to join him in Montana. She was going to paradise.....

This book was very entertaining to read, You just love the heroine!!
This book had potential. I was interested in how an English lady would manage in rustic Montana. But of course she knoew exactly how to run her rustic house without servants all by herself. No challenges for her.Her "babies" annoyed me and her pregnant friend took up too much of the story.
Good read- About a rich London lady marrying an American she never met and moving to Montana.
So good! Garwood has such a sweet, funny, and detailed writing technique. I love her style and the way she brings characters to life. This book as a great read with a little unexpected twist at the end!
Loved this story, it was a real "can't put it down" kind of book. Love historic romance & this one fit the bill. The time-out part at the end was a little unbelievable...but other than that great!
Fantastic book, great author
Lady Taylor is forced by her grandmother to marry Lucas Ross. Taylor's grandmother is dying, and she wants to leave Taylor her money, but knows that her evil uncle Malcom will try to take everything as soon as she is gone. Lucas and Taylor flee to America, where the two fall in love. But, Taylor is on a mission unknown to Lucas... to find her dead sister's twin babies. When it is found that the babies are missing, Lucas and Taylor start a search that can only lead to true love.
This book has never been opened. Received as gift and had already read it. I love Julie Garwood's books.
Sweet, charming, and Very Funny!
While Lady Esther lay dying, she devised a plan to protect her granddaughter, Taylor, from Esther's greedy son. She arranges a marriage between Taylor and Lucas Ross, an American who has agreed to take Taylor to Boston and away from her lecherous uncle. Taylor is also on a mission to find her late sister's children. Once in America they can go their separate ways; but Lucas and Taylor get to know each other on the ship journey, and both are reluctant to part their ways once they reach their destination. When they reach Boston, Taylor goes to retrieve her twin nieces only to find they have been kidnapped. Lucas promises to help her get the children back and keep them safe.
This is one of my favorite Julie Garwood books. There is a quick moving story, humor, and even a secondary romance. But beware...do not listen to the abridged audio. The narrator does a good job with the voices, but the story has been chopped into so many pieces that it hardly makes sense. Stick to the book or the unabridged audio. You won't be sorry. My rating: 5 Stars.

Love Julie Garwood's books and this is no exception. Characters are sweet and funny. Very romantic and worth reading.
Excellent book. I really enjoyed these characters and their antics.
excellent book. you will read it more than once.
Has a lot of heart, and the characters are charming!
An excellent book of love and adventure with an unfortunate title. Much more to the story than a lightweight romance. Recommended.
Garwood is a fantastic writer, and this is one of her best story's.
Another great Julie Garwood romance. This one is a historical regency set in England.
great book
very good fantacy book

Truly a feel good book. The title says it all. The hero is the Prince Charming most are looking for. This is the type of book that I read romance stories to get.
During the opening scenes of this story, Taylor Stapleton had been dumped by her fiance' and the most powerful force in Taylor's life, Lady Esther lay dying. The reader soon learns that Taylor's Uncle Malcolm is an unsavory charactor who is greedy and plotting how he will spend all of Lady Esther's money as soon as she is gone.
However, Lady Esther has the last laugh because she plots a scam that strips all the money from her son (Uncle Malcolm) and rewards Taylor and her sister's young twin daughters (who live in Boston). Lady Esther finds a husband for Taylor to protect her on the dangerous trip to America.
Although the story is almost 550 pages, it moves quickly. I thought Lucas Ross' adventure with a dishonest commander was unnecessary and weighed the story down.

This was a good read, I liked it but not as much as the others for some reason. Still a good read.
Western Romance.
Great read!
